Professional Bio

Thede Loder is co-founder and President of Boxbe, Inc., a consumer Internet venture focused on realizing the mass electronic marketplace that is possible through email. Thede is an experienced entreprenuer, consultant, strategist, researcher, and technologist. In 1995, he helped design, build, and launch the popular Match.com consumer dating service. Recognizing the demand for tools to enable the growth of consumer-facing web services, he co-founded Leverage Information Systems in 1996 (as CTO). Leverage produced a Java-based application server and provided engineering professional services to web-community operators such as Purple Moon and Electric Minds, and financial research firm VentureOne. Leverage became the first commercial application server company to open-source its product line. Thede led Leverage to an acquisition by Diamond Technology Partners (NADAQ: DTPI) in 1999. At Diamond Thede served on client projects as a Technology Knowledge Leader and co-led the build-out of Diamond's west coast practice.

From 2002-2004 Thede studied artificial intelligence (multi-agent systems) and conducted research in information economics as a fellow in the Socio-Technical Infrastructure for Electronic Transactions (STIET) program at the University of Michigan. His work on the economics of communication in media with multi-party matching has been presented at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), WISE, the ACM, the Federal Ttrade Commission, and the ITU. Thede has two patents pending in related technologies.

Thede holds a Masters in Computer Science (Michigan) and a BS in Mechanical Engineering (University of Rochester). He received the Emil Kuichling price and the Hook Award for Mechanical Engineering, the Newton Award for outstanding undergraduate research, was a Bausch and Lomb scholar and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Thede enjoys travel, hiking, photography snowboarding, cycling, brew pubs, and a good BBQ.
